auto insurance certificate
Why do insurance companies ask for a death certificate?

I do not mean life insurance. I mean why do you need a death certificate to remove a person as a driver in an auto policy, or rename the primary insured a house or policy flood? Is not that just add insult to injury? I can not understand what they are, possibly, protecting themselves in this kind of situation? Thanks in advance for your answers.

It is a sad truth, but people lie. Insurance companies have to cover their asses, to put it bluntly. To to remove or not a type of driver we have to have documentation (and signature) to the named insured. In the case of the named insured die, and obviously can not sign the form away from politics, or authorize the cancellation of the policy. Thus, a death certificate is required. We also require documentation to show proof of divorce when someone removing a policy. In situations where the husband and wife are listed as the insured, to switch to policyholders who have to have evidence that another person is no longer at home. We also need to contact the person being removed from the policy because legally must be notified that they are no longer insured under this policy, and whether to keep the insurance you need to get your own policy. I known couples who are in constant struggle and you want to remove the other, just out of spite (still married and living together just p! ados out to each other). Well, that falls through plan when we say that we are obliged to notify the other party before removing them from politics. There are some parts of my job I dislike. Making a man or a woman mourning the death of your husband or wife, evidence to prove that your spouse (or child) has just died is one of the things you dislike. But it is something that I am legally bound to do.
