auto insurance comparison state

It's self-insurance in NJ similar to health care?
I live in New Jersey, about 10 years of auto insurance was prohibitive in this state, and had very few options. I would like to hear announcements Geico and other insurance companies low cost radio and television, and always have the disclaimer at the end, "Not available in New Jersey." Suddenly it was over – we had more options and companies like Geico and State Farm, and others are allowed to do business in the state. Along with this election was lower premiums – and in 40% lower than it used to be. Is there legislation that was approved (or up) to make these elections and this competition possible? It is my opinion that the elimination of state health insurance mandates could increase competition and lower premiums, and I think the example of New Jersey Auto Insurance might be a good comparison, but I do not know all the facts. Does anyone know exactly what happened in the automobile insurance industry, specifically in New Jersey?
