Having a class C misdemeanor on my record prevent me from getting car insurance?

I'm living 17 years in Houston, Texas, and have completed Drivers Ed classes to get my license all I need is my car insurance. The other day my mom called our car insurance company to put my name on our car insurance family it would be able to handle it, but was told she could not add me because there was a class C misdemeanor in my record. He was charged with possession of marijuana when he was 15, but I went on probation for 6 months and my probation officer told me when I finished my period test would be cleaned up my registry like I had never committed the crime. Why is this problem occurring?

For most insurance companies, it connotes is added to the policy if you do not have a valid driver's license in Texas. The permit is not considered under a license. If all drivers have been completed ed class to obtain their license, then you have to go take the test. I do not think you have to have proof of insurance to obtain a driver's license though. A non-moving violation (possession of marijuana) does not prevent you getting in the car insurance policy, or get your own policy. But if your license has been suspended, revoked, or denied, your insurance company may refuse to put in the policy of his father, and some even canceled if he finds that he has a bad license. Call DPS, and check the status of your license (or her license #). That should help. Whatever the insurance agent uses his mom should be able to support this, whether they seeks explained.
