How does car insurance usually have long to change? (details inside)?

I'm getting my license and I am insured with According to my parents until I pass driving test, then I insured under my own name. How long does it usually take? I'm thinking of minutes, but could be wrong – so, Yahoo! Answers.

If you are under 18 years old, still under their parents policy, you can draw your own until that age. Once you get your license, your parents add you as a driver from the list and you are covered. When you turn 18, you can withdraw your account, but it would be cheaper to stay in their parents' policy while you can legally and it will do multi-car discount and have the weight of their coverage.
