Who is on is a weekly survey of organizations to announce (or rumoring) the dismissal of the week ending 10-23-09. This is not only valuable for job seekers, but for business analysts, business strategists, traders, vendors, investment analysts, financial advisors, and others who are interested in companies that are contracting.

Announced layoffs and rumors this week were in government, health, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, Finance / Banking, and publishing.

Inclusion in this list does not mean the whole industry has been reduced since many of the same area appeared in the article "Who is Hiring, published 10/19/09. Interestingly, while federal procurement is increasing, a number of governments State and local governments have continued to see cuts in the last month.

Health organizations were laying off, as Valley Mental Health, Bristol-Meyers Squibb, Health System Cook County, Oak Forest Hospital, Pfizer, Carestream Health, Medical Navilyst Eli Lilly, Smith doctor.

Publishers continued to remove jobs such as Time, The New York Times, The Charlotte Observer, and McGraw-Hill announced layoffs, while rumors circulated around Conde Nast on the units face job cuts.
