home insurance asbestos
Should I call my insurance or let the roofer trying to repair the damage from rain H20?

The licensed roofer ripped half my roof before Set in the rain tarped good, but not enough because at 4:00 in the morning, my wife pregnant and woke up with puddles of water that comes streaming on the ceiling of the closet. The house was built in 1964. I'm not sure if asbestos or lead paint is a problem. Now there is damage in the bedroom closet, bedroom, hallway, bathroom and living room below. The big questions are: Is mildew a problem? Can you just paint over water stains or should replace all panels plaster, texture and paint? Or should I call my home and make sure to make sure it is done correctly? The contractor says it will solve everything, but where draw the line? The dry cleaning bills for clothes woman wet? Wet carpet? Soaked platform? Water stains again if they are just painted? Help!

I'm a roofer. It's never good to start more than the ceiling if you can help. if it looked like rain, which should have started small sections at a time. If it is a straight roof (no valleys or on the walls) should not be difficult to canvas for no escape, unless the fabric has a hole in it. You can easily get a hole in a canvas, without realizing it. Fireplaces and other obstacles make the canvas properly. I once had a leaky tarp. I went directly to a hardware store, bought another canvas, and put it on the other. The roofer should be responsible for all damages. So little I know about the law, is expected to mitigate (do our best to minimize) damages if possible. If you are not confident that roofer maybe you should call around, get advice from other companies. A reputable repairman would happy to help, especially if they are honest and respectful), because it makes a good name for them. I worked for several companies covered, and no concern for their diligence and Customers can vary widely. Ask around, get advice from people known to have had roofers. I hope it works out.
