You've decided you're ready to remodel your bathroom, and plans to hire a contractor that is best for your situation. Here are some tips to keep consider when choosing a contractor.

Experience
This is one of the most important factors in choosing a contractor. The recruitment industry is easy to enter, and some states have few if any licensing requirements. A minimum of 5 years working in the trades or in the field of design is important. A contractor could be 15 years of experience working in the trade, but owning a new business. This may be acceptable if it met the other requirements below.

Education
Does the contractor have the education in the shops? Does the contractor continue to educate yourself to keep up with changing codes and design?

References
Power the contractor provide references of previous customers? You must call at least 2 references with name for feedback.

BBB
You can search the Better Business Bureau to see if complaints have been filed against the contractor. Although companies are not obliged to register with the BBB, anyone can file a complaint against any company through the BBB.

Insurance
Does the contractor insurance? If you accept an offer of a contractor, be sure to request a certificate of insurance before work starts.

Licensing – where case
If the contractor will do electrical or plumbing contractors are used for the license?

A couple of additional things to consider:
– Does the contractor belongs to any trade organizations such as NARI (National Association of remodeling), or the HBA (Home Builders Association)?
– If possible, ask if you can see some of his work. The higher your work is most appropriate is for you to wait to see their work firsthand.
– Do not use price as the deciding factor. You can get 3 quotes, and describes coverage and quality can vary widely. Also, for a contractor to comply with all above criteria suggests that price will be higher, as the overhead of maintaining licenses and carry the insurance is included in their total costs. Note – you get what you pay. If something goes wrong at work, the contractor will have to be in business to solve problems?

Always have a signed contract before starting any work, outlining a specific scope, schedule, and draw schedule. This is to protect both parties involved.

The best way to find a contractor is asking for references from people you trust. Be sure to ask all these questions yet though.
