Can my settlement check homeowners insurance claim is canceled?
I filed a complaint on my own Home insurance a few months ago. I had a contractor in mind that ended up working with the insurance adjuster to arrive at a figure agreed amount. I met with a contractor different I could do the same amount of work and improvements within my budget. The first contractor was annoyed, asked for some money and wanted to call the adjuster to reissue a check different in that it would not be doing more work. Contractor also reportedly mentioned that the adjuster false condition of the house cancel the claim. I was offered a smaller amount of money to reimburse the mileage and gas, because the estimates were supposed to be free, but then began to threaten.
Just explain your story to the insurance company. tell you what to do, and if not going to help better read your contract with the contractor. If there is no contract, sue him for money.
