homeowners insurance bad dog list
Property Insurance and the rescue of a dog?
I want to adopt a dog from the pound, and could be seen as a race "bad" in the eye of our homeowner's insurance company. What should I do? How did all these people own these dogs and own homes and do not get your insurance down? Are they all lying about owning dogs? Should I call and say I want to get this dog? I do not understand how everything works. They know of my current dog, a Great Dane, and I know he is in the wisdom of his "list", but not a race that we are not allowed to have. Thanks everyone! I'll be calling my company insurance. Better safe than sorry. The pound is not exactly sure what is probably a mixture of a rare dog though. Thanks!
Honestly? Many owners of "questionable" dogs just tell the vet that is a "mixed" race. That "mixed" is in the name of race dog's rabies certificate. Basically it is a do not ask, do not tell kind of situation. If your homeowner's insurance question, you say "mixed race" and has the certificate to prove it. If you end up in court for a dog bite, it would be a good defense with this because no decent vet will be absolutely safe say it is not this or that type of dog. But only by public insurance or label, is often done.
