homeowners insurance bed bugs
Does home insurance cover usually spraying for bed bugs?
My landlady is reluctant to pay for this, although the law is very clear it is your responsibility. (However, the fines for violations are too low to motivate her.) I hope it will be more willing if she knows she can recover its costs by filing an insurance claim. Any ideas about other ways you can cover your expenses (Gov't programs, etc.) are greatly appreciated. At this point, taking it to court is not an option I'm willing to consider. Thank you!
Unfortunately not. The insurance pays for damage caused by a sudden and accidental loss. Infestations of insects, rodents, insects, etc. are neither accidental and sudden are part of "keep" the premises. Take matters into their own hands and instead sprayed by a professional exterminator or a nebulizer DIY. Make sure you caulk the holes in the walls, floors, etc. I lived off-campus during my college years in the south and found myself in a similar situation. I bought some fabric window screen and covered all heat registers, installed a sweep at the bottom of my door and bought a box or two of Raid Foggers in turquoise blue box and enjoyed many error-free, afternoon session evening study. Good luck!
