Insurance companies use every trick possible to delay payment of the claim. In an article recently in The New York Times reporter Charles Duhigg discovered some of these techniques. Then, denies the claims, saying the documentation was inaccurate. Employees also try to state claims as "abandoned" if the insured did not submit the appropriate forms within 21 days. Conseco employees came even admitted to withholding of payments during such a long period of time that policyholders were the presentation of unnecessary paperwork.
