If I have medical travel insurance and accident in Belgium?
Can I expect that the confidentiality of doctors and nurses and my company insurance must seek my consent to obtain my medical history.
1>>> is treated properly 2>>> confidentiality is a must in the medical profession, except for an insurance cooperative. 3>>> government-owned hospitals and clinics are privately owned. 4>>> not all hospitals and clinics to work directly with insurance companies not particularly private clinics. You have to pay the first invoice and return it money from your insurance company later. I speak from experience because I am a Belgian expat and have been in medical insurance for over 30 years. When visiting a doctor or clinic in Belgium, I have to pay the bill first, to send all papers to my insurance co for reimbursement. Hospitals seek consent writing of its insurance undertaking to pay the bill. In any event, reimbursement has always been done without any hassle (we've had various health insurance in recent years) 5>>> if you follow point 4, you 'll notice that it will not be able to keep certain information in your file unless specifically ask the doctor to do, which in my humble opinion, is not going to do if the information is really relevant. 6>>> when you have a insurance, hospital or clinic or ask the consent of the insurer or, as I said before, you'lll have to pay first to be – in both cases – have of seeking consent from them in case of accident or if you have to stay in a hospital or receiving some special tests before the hospital will begin in them. Of Anyway, what do you have to hide, if you have an accident? unless … you have an undisclosed illness or some family medical history that have not declared even your insurance. Remain positive! Nothing will happen to you, but better safe than sorry. I wish him well and enjoy a great time in Belgium. Edit: Referring to comments Kim (sorry for what happened to her): You can pay for your medical expenses by 2 or more insurance companies, because 1 would not be honest 2 has to deliver the original bills to your insurance for reimbursement. In over 30 years, not once, our insurance refused to pay us. You have to make sure you choose one that has a solid reputation and honest and read between the lines, before signing his contract as some insurance companies do not pay travel expenses or will pay only X% of total of their medical expenses or will pay your medical bills only until the amount to be paid in their own country. Stay tuned. Good luck!
