Before learning to drive or ride a new vehicle make sure you know about the rules and restrictions that apply to you. Different vehicles have different minimum ages and restrictions.

Rules for learner drivers

Before you start driving, you should:
Maintain valid provisional driving license for Great Britain and Northern Ireland

Mopeds and tractors

If you want to ride a moped you can take the theory test when you're 16, but again you must ensure you have a provisional license valid.

If you are 16 and already has a provisional license for an agricultural vehicle or a moped, this will give provisional right to drive a car when you're 17.
