Thoracic Outlet Syndrome anyone?
Hello:) A couple of years I was diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome and impingement syndrome of thoracic outlet, therapy did and it got a little better. The doctor told me then that would not operate on me if I lost weight … etc … In the last two years has improved a lot I want to say, no pain, but its certainly manageable easy to live with the lines going under the knife. In the last 9 months. I lost 130 pounds. and when I go to sleep at night I wake up in the morning with my neck and shoulders hurt now in the last couple of days I have numbness in the fingers and hand from side and pain in the wrist on the other side. Has anyone else experienced and what did the doctor say about it? They have good insurance coverage and therefore have not been to the doctor yet. I'm curious if there are others out there in my similar situation …. also the doctor said that weight loss would improve, but here I am with more pain now? How strange is that? Thank you!
I do not like to confuse things, but if you had a thoracic outlet before, you probably have the Carpal tunnel syndrome now! A lot of people showing symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome first notice that they wake symptomatic. Sometimes symptoms are really wake them up. Carpal tunnel syndrome is compression of the median nerve that causes discomfort and a little painful paresthesias in the distribution of median nerve. This nerve supplies sensation basically thumb-Ward half of the hand. The reason that happens is that the nerve passes through a channel in the wrist, along with some of the tendons and vessels. Which may be exacerbated by certain types of activities that use their hands a lot. When you sleep, your hands often shrink, bend wrist. This may be sufficient to create compression on the nerve. You wake up with nerve pain. Try playing on your wrist just below the fold that separates the side of the thumb and the palm of your hand little finger side pads (between the thenar and hypothenar eminences). Do you have to get a bit of zing in the same distribution as their pattern of symptoms? There are some techniques for treating carpal tunnel syndrome. If you agree that could be happening to you, probably do a lot of google and get some good ideas. Do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of any further assistance information.
