Malpractice insurance?
I wonder if all doctors need, in general, or is only meant for physicians most striking, as surgeons and gynecologists, the type that can severely hamper a patient. And if so, physicians, and optometrists who can not give it the weight need. Reason why I am asking is that it seems bad practice usually only for doctors who are more lucrative positions, but for my part, of them?
Many states (but not all) require that all physicians have a professional liability insurance. Who pays for it is a matter of negotiation between a doctor and his employer. I am self-employed and therefore pay for my own insurance. What is different is that the rates of different specialties to pay. If you're delivering babies or cracking skulls, you will pay much more than the guy doing well baby visits or management of blood pressure. More risk = Higher premiums.
