property insurance liability
By law, a landlord can make you get renters insurance to cover your personal property?

I live in an apt complex, and sent me apt complex a letter saying that I need renters insurance to waive the lease required $ 10,000 property insurance. I told them no value $ 10,000 to secure things so I make sure my $ 5000 for personal property. (which is all you need to cover my stuff) are still required to get 10,000 dollars, if not even necessary. By law they are allowed to get a minimal amount of renters insurance? I have more than enough for liability insurance, but I still want to get $ 10,000 from the property.

To the extent that it requires the entire complex is completely legal.
