In 2005, the workforce in New Mexico had 941,300 people. About 42 percent in the service industries, most occupations along tourism. Others did not work as programmers or served in restaurants. Twenty percent were greater or retail trade 22; per cent were working for the federal, state or local government. Some went to military service. About 6 percent construction, 29 per cent in real estate, finance and insurance. Manufacturing employment was 6 percent. Agriculture and forestry had a minimum of 3 percent, even including agricultural services. The mining industry had 2 percent of the total workforce.
